About the event

Musical Bridges Over the Neisse: A Special Evening of Songs in Szczawno-Zdrój

As part of the "Lied an der Neiße" festival, the former Grand Hotel (today's Kurhaus/Dom Zdrojowy) in Szczawno-Zdrój will become a stage for young, international talents. This concert in the historic Oval Hall marks a very unique anniversary: it was exactly on December 1, 1926 – 100 years ago to the day – that Count Bolko von Hochberg passed away in this very building. To this day, the eminent composer and theatre manager is widely remembered as an invaluable cultural bridge between Poland and Germany.

The ultimate highlight of the evening will be the first-ever public performance of an aria from Hochberg's rarely performed opera "Der Wärwolf" (The Werewolf). The programme will also include masterpieces by Stanisław Moniuszko, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Robert Schumann, and selected works by Franz Schubert, offering a preview of the upcoming Schubert Anniversary Year…
