LIED ON THE NEISSE COMPETITION & FESTIVAL
Lied is a small musical form in which two join their forces to create a more powerful one: poetry and music, singer and pianist. An art-song concert (Liederabend) is the most natural and intimate kind of concert — all one needs is a room and a piano.
Just as two hundred and one hundred years ago, the singing of Lieder is experiencing a renaissance. Young musicians are returning to the poets and composers, studying them and gladly bringing them to life again.
To celebrate this young spirit, which I experienced during the third Lied Competition Bolko von Hochberg in May–June 2026, I initiated the small festival “Lied on the Neisse”. My vision is to fill the beautiful landscapes, castles, churches and historic halls on both sides of the River Neisse — in Poland and Germany — with music, and to let the young artists meet the local audiences. Together we celebrate the shared European cultural heritage of poetry, nature and song.
I warmly invite you to form a community with the young musicians: to attend the concerts, to take part in workshops and masterclasses, to sing, and to share the recordings of the Schubert Archive.
